Ajrakh block printed modal silk saree, made using natural dyes through traditional ajrakh technique of hand block printing practised by the artisans in Kutch region of Gujarat.
Modal silk is a soft, shiny and highly lustrous fabric, achieved through interlacing modal fibers and silk yarns. It has the opulence of silk and the comfort of cotton modal is a fine and soft textured weave.
Ajrakh is a traditional vegetable dyeing and resist block-printing technique on cloth. It is estimated to be around 4,500 years old.
Characteristic imperfections associated with handblock printing may be observed, and colours may fade or bleed due to the traditional dyeing and printing process employed
